Apple's next-generation iPhone 14 series smartphones are still months away from being formally released, but there have been multiple leaks about the future gadgets ahead of the unveiling.
According to a fresh report, only the iPhone 14 Pro series devices will be powered by the new Apple A16 Bionic processor. TrendForce reports on it this time in its worldwide smartphone market research.
This confirms prior claims that the Apple iPhone 14 series handsets would be powered by the Apple A15 Bionic processor, which is also used in the current-generation iPhone 13 series phones.
Only the Apple iPhone 14 Pro versions will be equipped with the company's newest CPU, which is expected to be dubbed Apple A16 Bionic. The iPhone 14 and 14 Max will contain an A15 SoC, but instead of 4GB of RAM, they will have 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM.
It's unclear why Apple is opting to use several types of CPUs for smartphones in the same series, which the firm has never done before. This time, though, the corporation is concentrating on distinguishing between the Pro and non-Pro variants.
The worldwide chip scarcity might be to blame for such a move by the technological behemoth. If claims are to be believed, the whole iPhone supply chain has been disrupted, with sources claiming that manufacture of the entry-level iPhone 14 has been delayed by three weeks or more.
