  • WhatsApp users may currently establish new chats with a message timer.
  • This update will be available to Google Play Beta Program participants.
  • The WhatsApp message timer includes a 24 hour, 7 day, and 90 day limit.
WhatsApp is working on making the message timing functionality work with current chats as well. Users may presently establish new individual conversations with the message timer functionality enabled by default. This upgrade to the message timing functionality is now in the works for WhatsApp beta users on Android. In related news, WhatsApp is said to be working on a revised security page for the current WhatsApp Desktop beta release. A similar revamped security page is said to be in WhatsApp beta for Android.

WhatsApp features tracker WABetainfo has reported that the company is working on a new beta build for its Android app with the version number 2.22.11.11. Users who have signed up for the Google Play Beta Program may begin to get this update. It is supposed to provide the message timing functionality to current conversations, as previously stated. Unlike the present functionality, which allows users to only establish new individual conversations with fading messages, this new option allows users to pick and activate the message timer on several existing chats at the same time. Whatsapp users will then be able to select a timeframe of 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days. When enabled, the specified conversations will begin to receive vanishing messages. Since this feature is currently only available on the beta build, there is no clear indication if or when it might see a wider release.

With a new beta release, the Meta-owned firm is apparently testing out new adjustments to the WhatsApp Desktop client. It is apparently overhauling the desktop app's security page, which will be available in a future version. The new security page, according to reports, tells users about the many components of the app that are protected by safe end-to-end encryption. Text/voice messaging, audio/video calls, location sharing, status updates, and shared images, videos, and documents will all be included.
