WhatsApp has been discovered to be experimenting with rich link previews in text status messages. Links published on WhatsApp statuses currently appear as pure URL text, with no further features to preview facts about the webpage they refer to. Rich link previews are being tested by the instant messaging software, which appears to be a significant development. WhatsApp is also said to be developing a new text status update interface for Android users, which will be released to the general public at a later date.

According to WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp beta tracker, the instant messaging programme owned by Meta has been observed testing rich link previews for text status updates, which would allow users to view webpage elements without having to tap on them.

A screenshot purportedly taken from a WhatsApp for iOS beta version has been posted by WABetaInfo. WhatsApp may begin testing the same experience on Android and desktop in the near future.

The exact date when rich link previews on WhatsApp status updates will be available to normal users is unknown. On iOS, the update has not yet been made available to beta testers. Nonetheless, the app's history suggests that the upgrade will first be limited to beta testers for some time.

WhatsApp launched rich link previews in chats in 2017. Users began to see a preview of the link without having to press on it, which changed the experience.

For Android users, WhatsApp has begun testing a new text status update interface. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp for Android beta 2.22.11.13 will receive the update. The emoji, text, and background colour selector options are moved from the bottom left to the top right of the screen. This is the same as WhatsApp for iOS, which has all of these choices in the top-right corner.

The new UI also includes a revised caption view, which WhatsApp was seen testing in April for Android users. It emphasises the recipients of your status updates and allows you to modify the audience for a certain status from all contacts to a specific group of contacts. To make that adjustment, tap the caption view button.

WhatsApp is presently using beta testers to evaluate the new text status updates interface. If you haven't received the update on your beta release yet, you may have to wait a few days for WhatsApp to update your Android handset.

WhatsApp was caught testing some of its helpful business chat filters for all users last week. It was also discovered that it was working on a message timer for existing talks.
