In response to objections received from users in India via WhatsApp's grievance systems, WhatsApp has terminated over 1.85 million accounts in the month of March 2022. According to the IT Rules 2021, WhatsApp has produced its tenth User Safety Monthly Report, which demonstrates that the business has taken action against some accounts in India using its prevention and detection mechanisms for breaking Indian laws or WhatsApp's Terms of Service. The report includes a breakdown of user complaints and the actions taken by WhatsApp to fight abuse on the network.
The most recent WhatsApp India Monthly report, issued in accordance with Rule 4(1)(d) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, covers the period from March 1, 2022, to March 31, 2022. According to the study, customers submitted 597 concerns, of which 112 were linked to accounting support, 407 were related to banning appeals, 37 were related to product support, 13 were related to safety, and the remaining 28 were related to other support. Only 74 of these petitions were processed, with all of them falling under the ban appeal category.
