We recently completed our review of the Vivo X Note. However, the X80 series was also recently released. While I don't think it's a good idea for Vivo to flood the market with so many flagship phones, we have no choice but to review them because they've been released. The Vivo X80 Pro, vivo's premier camera phone for the first half of the year, is unboxed and reviewed in this video.
The X80 Pro comes in a somewhat smaller and slimmer packaging than the earlier X70 Pro plus and X Note. Apart from the phone, we couldn't discover any corded headphones. Vivo appears to have figured out way to be more "environmentally friendly." However, the brand still offers a stylish phone case. There are additional instructions and UV protection stickers available. This charger is 80 watts and supports PD 65 watts. You can use this dual Type-C charging cable as a portable charger.
We have always considered that vivo designs gorgeous phones more than other brands, however the X80 Pro is an exception. If I can live with the rectangular plus round shape, I can't live with the periscope telephoto lens outside the main camera casing. While I appreciate that the Micro Gimbal is too large to fit the telephoto next to the portrait camera, But I can't stand the clumsy design. And the fact that the telephoto camera and the top two lenses are not in alignment drives me insane. The X80 Pro this year has made far too many compromises in order to unify the design style.
The rest of the design, such as the glossy top trim strip and smooth frosted glass on the back, is carried over from last year's X70 series. It also has NFC and supports two SIM cards. Fingerprint recognition is the same big ultrasonic fingerprint as on the X Note, although the X80 Pro lacks the silent switch seen on the X Note. If you're used to the X70 Pro Plus, the transition to the X80 Pro will be seamless. The most noticeable change is that the lens design has gotten worse.
I felt the X80 Pro's screen seemed familiar as soon as I opened it. After examining the screen specifications of the X70 Pro Plus, I am confident that this is the identical screen. We've seen this screen before, and I'm sure you don't want to hear us do it again. Except for the side view colour shift, everything is now top of the line.
vivo X80 Pro Review: Gaming & Performance
I must say, Vivo clearly understands its customers. They are well aware that we favour the Dimensity 9000 to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. As a result, it provides two models with identical specifications but different processors. You can purchase any processor you like. We have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 version of the X80 Pro. Because the Dimensity 9000 version has yet to be released. We are already aware with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Benchmark performance, so take a look at the table to get a sense.
We just played PUBG and Genshin for game performance. Maybe the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 performance is too bad, or maybe Vivo is simply trying to save your hands from getting scorched, but the performance is just mediocre, as it always is. The X80 Pro is not the ideal pick if you want a phone with good gaming performance.
vivo X80 Pro Review: Cameras
A 50MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 12MP portrait camera, and an 8MP periscope telephoto camera are among the four lenses on the X80 Pro. A glass lens is added to the main camera. The ultra-wide-angle camera's Micro Gimbal has also been replaced by the portrait camera.
This time, the X80 Pro's V1 chip was upgraded to a V1+ chip. We'll focus on this Micro Gimbal portrait lens because the other lenses haven't altered much. To be honest, this lens's closest focusing distance is a little too distant, and it frequently fails to focus for everyday use. There is occasionally an unexplainable shaking problem, and the likelihood of this bug is pretty high. Although the Micro Gimbal is better for video recording, this lens does not support 4k or 60fps video. As a result, I prefer the design of the X70 Pro Plus, which places the Micro Gimbal on the ultra-wide-angle camera. In comparison to the X70 Pro Plus or X Note, the other lenses are not much different.
vivo X80 Pro review: Battery & Charging
The battery capacity of the X80 Pro has been enhanced by 200mAh over its predecessor, and the cable charging power has been increased to 80w. However, charging protocol compatibility is still an issue. This time, there are more variations for sale, therefore I've included a table for your convenience. In fact, the Vivo X series has never been cheap, so whether you should buy the X80 Pro depends on if you want its excellent camera system. The X80 Standard Edition is something I know a lot of people are interested in. We'll also provide a review as soon as we can.
