Telegram is getting closer to launching its premium tier, according to a new discovery by Alessandro Paluzzi. The hint comes from a data string that drastically alters the wording of the messaging app's welcome screen when it's downloaded and installed.

Right now, you're going to read "Telegram is always free. There are no advertisements. There are no subscription fees." "Telegram provides free unlimited cloud storage for chats and media," however, will replace that text. This is a strong indication that a subscription-based plan is in the works and will be released soon.

The same developer reveals some of the premium features that Telegram will offer to its paid users. The app will grant you access to exclusive stickers and reactions, as well as a star badge that will appear next to your name in chat lists. We don't know how much a subscription will cost, but we have a feeling we'll find out soon enough.
