Qualcomm was expected to release the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor this month, but a Chinese leakster claims the platform will arrive in the second part of the year. The reason, according to Digital Chat Station, who is typically spot on with such reports, is China's present pandemic condition.

According to the Chinese state news agency Xinhua, easing of controls will "undoubtedly lead to a vast number of illnesses," wreaking havoc on the economy and social development of people's lives and health.

Lenovo and Qualcomm have a "excellent connection," according to Digital Chat Station, implying that the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra will be the first phone to use the new technology. After all, the Edge 30 Pro (also known as the Edge X30 in China) was the first smartphone to use Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

The name "Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+" is still a rumour, but the GPU is expected to get a bump while the CPU stays the same as the current flagship - one powerful Cortex-X2 at (nearly) 3 GHz, three extra Cortex-A710 performance units, and four Cortex-A510 efficiency cores.
