Google unveiled the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, as well as the Pixel 6a, Pixel Watch, and Pixel Buds Pro, earlier this month. This was only a teaser for the future flagship Android phones, and the Pixel 7 series won't be available for another five months. However, a fresh leak has surfaced that reveals some intriguing data about the smartphone duo's display and other key specifications. Let's take a closer look.
The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, according to 9to5Google, will have the same display as its predecessors, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. This was discovered by the publishing in the Android Open-Source Project, where Google developed two new display drivers, one labelled C10 and the other P10. The tags appear to be truncated versions of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro's codenames, "Cheetah" and "Panther."
Further investigation of the code revealed that both devices will have Samsung-made display panels, with model numbers S6E3FC3 and S6E3HC3, respectively, similar to the Pixel 6 duo.
This indicates that the Pixel 7 will have a 1080 x 2400 display with a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, while the Pixel 7 Pro will have a 1440 x 3120 display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. These are the same specs as the 2021 Pixels, if you recall.
The Pixel 7 is expected to be slightly smaller than the Pixel 6 from last year, with a display that is 1mm thinner and 2mm shorter. The Pixel 7 Pro, on the other hand, has the same display as the Pixel 6 Pro, but it will have a native 1080p mode, which will likely increase battery life in Low Power Mode.
According to leaks and reports, the Pixel 7 series will only have minor updates and nothing groundbreaking. However, the launch is still five months away, and Google may surprise us.
