Nothing Launcher Could Land You in Jail at Airport Security

Nothing recently provided the world a preview of what to anticipate from the Nothing Phone(1) by uploading the Nothing Launcher Beta on the Google Play Store last week.

Despite all of the buzz surrounding the launcher, the product has garnered only mixed reviews on the Google Play Store. The Nothing Launcher's most troubling fault is that its supplied ringtones might theoretically get you arrested at airport security, and here's how.

When you download the Nothing Launcher, you may change your wallpaper backdrop, alarms, ringtones, and notification sounds in addition to the icon packs and home screen.

Although the included launcher backgrounds (Hand.png and Face.png) are disturbing, they will not get you in trouble in public. The issue is with the ringtones and notification noises.

If you want to try out the Nothing Launcher's ringtones and notification sound effects for yourself, we've included a Dropbox link below.

Let's begin with the Ringtone "Nothing ing 1.ogg." When you get an incoming call, the ringtone is an 11-second audio clip that will play on repeat. If you have a more innocent mentality, the audio clip sounds like a woodpecker pecking on the bark of a tree.

However, airport security may not think the same way, because the ringtone playing at full volume sounds like the soundwave frequencies of four muffled consecutive assault rifle gunshots, which could lead security to believe there was a shooting, causing panic at the airport when, in fact, you were receiving an incoming call.

The worst-case situation was if security discovered you were responsible for the mass panic, and you might be arrested at the airport for performing a prank of this magnitude that deceived the national security defense force into believing there was a terrorist assault.

The notification sound, titled "Nothing notification 1.ogg," on the other hand, is a reduced version of the ringtone that replaces the four shots with a single shot. If you received many notification noises at full power at the same time, it would be as if you had a rifle in your pocket.

Because the Nothing Launcher is currently in Beta, Nothing should use user feedback to improve the Nothing software experience before it is officially preloaded on Nothing's first smartphone, the Nothing Phone (1).
