The long-running alliance between Huawei and Leica came to an end earlier this week, but the Chinese smartphone giant also announced the start of a new partnership with the German camera company.
Now, only days after the formal announcement, a leaked image has surfaced online, suggesting that Xiaomi already has a new gadget ready to market featuring Leica's camera technology.
A Xiaomi smartphone, supposedly the Xiaomi 12S, with a Leica branding on the camera module has been leaked by a Weibo source. The device's back panel appears to be quite similar to the Xiaomi 12 Pro, with the exception of the Leica logo on the camera module instead of the "50MP" carved on it.
According to rumours, the first Leica-branded Xiaomi flagship could be released in June, which confirms earlier reports that the Xiaomi 12S series would be released in June. So, let's have a look at the future smartphones' specifications and characteristics.
Specs of the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro (Rumored)
The Xiaomi 12S is said to include a Full HD+ resolution curved panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, a centred punch-hole, and a reduced dimension. A 50-megapixel primary camera will be the focal point of the device's triple camera arrangement. It is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which was just revealed.
The Xiaomi 12S Pro, on the other hand, is rumoured to come with a 2K display and SoC options. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and the Dimensity 9000 SoC are the most likely candidates.
