In China, Huawei has released a new edition of the Huawei P50 Pocket. In December of last year, the clamshell device was launched in two versions for the domestic market. The Chinese manufacturer has now announced the release of a new variant with 8 GB of RAM.

Since its introduction in China, the Huawei P50 Pocket has been available in two configurations. The 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage versions of the clamshell were priced at 8,898 Yuan ($1,310) and 10,898 Yuan ($1,600), respectively.


The all-new 8 GB RAM + 512 GB storage model, which went official today in China, costs $9,988 Yuan (about $1,470). The 8+512 version is available in Obsidian Black and Crystal White, same as the 8+256 model. The Glit Gold colour is exclusive to the 12+512 version.

Specifications of the Huawei P50 Pocket

The Huawei P50 Pocket features a punch-hole 6.9-inch foldable OLED display. The screen has a resolution of 2790 x 1188 pixels, a refresh rate of 120Hz, with a 21:9 aspect ratio. Harmony OS 2 is preinstalled on the device.

The Huawei P50 Pocket is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G mobile platform. The SoC is combined with LPDDR5 RAM (8 GB / 12 GB) and UFS 3.1 storage (256 GB / 512 GB). It has a 4,000mAh battery that charges in 40 minutes.

For selfies, the P50 Pocket boasts a 10.7-megapixel camera. A 40-megapixel primary camera sits on the back panel, alongside a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens and a 32-megapixel ultra-spectrum camera.

In Europe, the Huawei P50 Pocket is also available. It's unknown whether 8+512 will be released in markets other than China.
