Mophie has released two new ultra-compact USB-C chargers designed for iPhones, iPads, and Macs, with 30W and 67W versions. The chargers, made of GaN (gallium nitride), are smaller, lighter, and more power efficient than previous silicon-based chargers, including Apple's own 30W and 67W chargers. Both chargers include folding prongs, a single USB-C connector with rapid charging capability, and an integrated two-meter USB-C to USB-C cable.
Apple's only GaN charger to yet is their 140W USB-C power converter, which is included with the current 16-inch MacBook Pro and available separately. Apple is also said to be working on a new 35W charger with two USB-C connections that might use GaN technology, with leaked photos indicating the charger could include folding prongs.
Mophie's new chargers are available for purchase through Apple's online store, with the 30W option costing $44.95 and the 67W version costing $69.95. The chargers are also available from Mophie's parent firm ZAGG (30W here and 67W here), which is now providing consumers a 30% discount when they purchase two or more goods at the same time.
(Intriguingly, Mophie's press release states that the 67W charger has two USB-C ports that can divide the output 45W/20W, yet Apple's product specs and photographs clearly show only one USB-C connector.) Mophie has been contacted for clarification.)
