Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is the company’s most powerful flagship processor to date. The processor is expected to power all the major Android flagship phones of 2022’s flagship. However, it will face stiff competition this year, with Apple, Samsung, and Google all producing their own chipsets, and MediaTek now competing with its own silicon.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was announced in November 2021, and it has already begun to appear in smartphones. According to a Weibo tweet by a Chinese blogger, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 4G SoC will also be available shortly.

Except for the 5G modem, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 4G SoC will be a high-end CPU with specs identical to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 5G. It should include one Prime Core based on ARM Cortex-X2 clocked at up to 3 GHz and three performance cores based on Cortex-A710 clocked at up to 2.5 GHz.

It is also rumored to include four energy-saving cores based on the ARM Cortex-A510 architecture and clocked at up to 1.8 GHz. The shared 6 MB level 3 cache will be accessible to all cores. According to Qualcomm, the CPU portion improves performance by 20% and saves 30% power over the Snapdragon 888. (Plus).
