Zoom has introduced additional tools for its Education subscribers in response to teacher and administrative demands. These capabilities are available throughout Zoom's chat and meeting products, and include Virtual Background and Blur for Chromebooks, Anywhere Polls, and Breakout Room upgrades. According to the firm, the new features are intended to encourage students to complete homework assignments and are accessible in the most recent version. Some of the new features will be made available later this year. Here's a peek at some of Zoom's latest features.
Virtual Background and Blur for Chromebooks
For Chromebooks, this feature provides a fake background and blur. You may use the function and modify the settings directly from the Zoom app. To change your Chrome OS wallpaper, simply follow these easy instructions.
Breakout Room enhancements
The Breakout Rooms function has also been improved in the current edition. It now allows meeting hosts to exchange audio-enabled content with participants in Breakout Rooms, as well as share videos with audio. Educators may fill Breakout Rooms from the course roster using the LTI Pro integration improvement. This may be used to designate Breakout Rooms in advance and then arrange students into various Rooms automatically.
Anywhere Polls
Anywhere Polls will allow polling items to be stored in a centralized repository that can be accessed from any meeting on an account rather than being tied to a specific meeting. Later this year, this functionality will be accessible. Zoom has also introduced a few new capabilities for Chat and Waiting rooms in addition to these. These include the ability to transmit audio and video messages in Zoom conversations, as well as rename the Waiting Room members. According to the firm, asynchronous video allows users to think about their comments and then record as required to deliver intelligently designed responses.
Users can record up to a 3-minute video message that will be sent immediately to the out-of-meeting chat channel by clicking Video at the bottom of the chat window. It is beneficial in instances when students must submit small video tasks. Renaming participants before they attend a meeting can also be utilized for attendance taking when students may be utilizing shared devices, creating an anonymous student group, or validating gender identification.
