Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows 11, may soon get third-party widgets via the Microsoft Store. At the moment, the widget panel can only display Microsoft's own widgets. A calendar, weather updates, and top news headlines are among them. Microsoft is purportedly working on introducing support for third-party widgets on Windows 11 based on an image of supposed code from the Widget manifest that has appeared online. According to the Widget manifest, new widgets may be downloaded through the Microsoft Store.
FireCube, a Twitter user, shared a snapshot of the suspected code from the Widget manifest, which includes references to downloading new widgets from the Microsoft Store. The tweet stated, "Widget manifest update offers additional evidence of being able to download third-party widgets and upgrades through the Microsoft Store." A message says "download new widgets and widget updates in Microsoft Store" in the snapshot of the suspected manifest file. According to this, users may be able to download additional widgets following a future OS upgrade. If the development is real and not merely an internal Microsoft test, the Widgets panel will be more beneficial for users who want to personalize their experience.
At the moment, Windows 11's Widgets panel opens from the left side of the screen and displays widgets for weather, traffic, sports articles, a Watchlist, OneDrive images, Microsoft To-Do, and a few more apps and forms of content. Previous leaks have also suggested that third-party widgets will be included to Microsoft's operating system. However, Microsoft has yet to confirm the Widgets panel's extension.
