When exchanging documents, WhatsApp now includes an ETA.

WhatsApp is now introducing a function that lets us know when a document is entirely downloaded on our devices or uploaded to their servers, after testing the ability to exchange media files up to 2GB in size with certain users in Argentina (and it is still limited to those individuals).

The most recent WhatsApp beta versions for Android, iOS, Web, and Desktop provide the option to display the expected time of arrival when sharing documents, indicating when the document will be entirely downloaded on your phone or Desktop. When you upload a document, the same information is displayed. The capability was already available on WhatsApp Desktop last month, and this information was distributed to certain beta testers on Android and iOS last week.

We are uploading a document, as seen in the attached screenshot, and there is a new ETA label in the chat bubble, beneath the document name. This data tells us when the document should be entirely transmitted or downloaded to our device. This functionality is especially handy for beta testers in Argentina who can exchange documents up to 2GB in size.

It's worth noting that, while the screenshot is from WhatsApp beta for Android, certain beta testers may also view the same information on WhatsApp beta for iOS.

This functionality was published this week on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS, but it is already available to all beta testers on Desktop, and additional activations are planned.
