WhatsApp has been spotted working on a new interface for business accounts that will allow users to share a short link with customers directly from the app. The change is visible in a new WhatsApp for Android beta version, and it may also be available to WhatsApp Business accounts on iOS. At the moment, WhatsApp allows both business and regular users to share their profiles via QR code. The app, on the other hand, allows users to manually create short links to their WhatsApp account profiles.
WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo reported that WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.22.9.8 contained references to the new interface. The website has also shared a couple of screenshots to indicate the changes that are not being implemented.
According to the screenshots, the existing QR code button next to the user account name will be replaced with a new share icon. By tapping that icon, users will be taken to a new Share Profile section, where they will be able to copy the short link to their profile. People can use the short link to chat with a WhatsApp account without having to save its phone number in their contacts list. It begins with WhatsApp's short URL wa.me and includes the user account's phone number.
Along with the ability to copy the profile link, the Share Profile section appears to include a Share Link option that allows users to share the link to their profile.
According to WABetaInfo, the updated interface will be designed specifically for WhatsApp Business accounts. This suggests that regular app users may not be able to see it.
Exact details on the changes' availability have yet to be revealed. The update has also not yet been made available to beta testers.
WhatsApp was recently discovered to be developing new drawing tools and working on a new feature to show estimated time of arrival (ETA) for file sharing. It was also seen testing new message responses for Android users.
