Following the release of a new camera interface on the WhatsApp beta for iOS, WhatsApp is now delivering the same updated experience to certain users on the most recent WhatsApp beta for Android upgrades, and more! In the post on the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.1.2 upgrade, we mentioned a new feature in the works that would allow people to use the camera with a redesigned interface. We announced a revised media picker in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.4.4 release a few weeks ago. WhatsApp has started a test by introducing these new features in the last several days!

As seen in these pictures, WhatsApp is finally delivering a makeover for the camera and a new media picker with tabs (recents, gallery) for select beta testers who install the newest WhatsApp beta for Android upgrades. Furthermore, WhatsApp did not remove the camera media bar as planned during the creation of the new interface: several users objected when it was deleted on WhatsApp beta for iOS, and the firm reinstated it in a subsequent release. This is fantastic news!

The new camera interface and updated media selector are already being rolled out, with additional activations planned in the coming weeks.
