  • WhatsApp's Camera tab would be replaced by the Communities tab.
  • To make it easier for companies to establish orders, the messaging app might allow users to form new groups from the tab WhatsApp.

WhatsApp has been discovered to be testing a separate Communities page for Android users. A screenshot of the new tab's functionality has surfaced online. According to a recent rumor, WhatsApp is working on delivering the dedicated Communities menu to iOS in addition to Android. It has also been discovered that the instant messaging software makes it easy for business accounts to create new orders immediately in a chat. The new experience would be provided through a 'Order' shortcut in the chat action sheet.

According to WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo, WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.22.9.10 contains certain references indicating the availability of the Communities tab. The website has also published a screenshot in which the tab can be easily seen as a replacement for existing Camera tab.

The graphic demonstrates that under the Communities page, users may see the communities that they have founded or to which they have been added. It would simply be a one-stop shop for all of your WhatsApp groups, rather than having to go through the list of chats to discover them. This is in contrast to finding groups alone by browsing through our conversations list.

In addition to providing access to all communities, a separate tab seems to provide rapid access to creating a new community on the app.

WABetaInfo released an image of the Communities tab on iOS earlier this month. It also replaced the existing Camera tab in that situation.

In March, the first mentions of a separate Communities tab on WhatsApp for Android handsets arose. The full details of how the tab will function were not disclosed at the time.

WhatsApp appears to be trying hard to build communities to the platform. The new feature would not replace groups, but rather assist group administrators in better managing their existing groups. The graphic shared in connection to the new tab also implies that communities will bring together relevant organizations.

Separately, WABetaInfo discovered several references to the 'Order' shortcut in WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.22.9.11. The shortcut displays on the chat action sheet, where you can also quickly add a document, photo, or audio asset to your chat. The 'Order' shortcut would allow business users to rapidly generate orders for their clients from the chat page.

According to WABetaInfo, businesses will be able to pick their product, quantity, and pricing and share them directly with their consumers using the 'Order' shortcut.

In the future, the 'Order' shortcut is planned to be confined to the WhatsApp Business app. Last month, several hints about how corporate users might be able to control their orders from an iOS device surfaced.

Exact dates for when the features seen in beta versions will be made accessible to users have yet to be published. It is also worth noting that the functionalities are not yet available to beta testers.
