WhatsApp has released a new update via the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the app's version number up to 2.22.9.7.
What's new in this version? Today, WhatsApp is releasing new sketching tools to certain beta testers!
In the post on the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.7.1 release, we said that WhatsApp was working on a new interface for the drawing editor, which will feature new drawing tools. The same drawing editor described in the changelog (and previously published on the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.8.0.73 upgrade) has now been made available to select beta testers after installing the new WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.9.7 build:
What's the latest? In the picture below, you can see that there are new sketching tools at the bottom of the screen: new pencils and the blur tool! The blur tool was previously only available on WhatsApp for iOS (as indicated in our list of exclusive features), but it is now available on WhatsApp for Android as well! If you install the current beta from the Play Store, you can start using the new drawing tools right away, but if you don't see the new drawing editor, it implies it isn't yet ready for your WhatsApp account. In this situation, another deployment for additional WhatsApp accounts is scheduled for a later date.
