A passenger's cell phone caught fire mid-flight on IndiGo's Dibrugarh-Delhi aircraft on Thursday, but the cabin staff extinguished it with a fire extinguisher, according to DGCA authorities.
According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), no passengers or cabin crew members were injured as a result of this event.
According to authorities, the aircraft 6E 2037 was on its way to Delhi from Dibrugarh when a cabin staff member saw sparks and smoke escaping from a passenger's phone.
According to them, the cabin crew member doused the fire using a fire extinguisher.
According to them, the plane arrived safely at the Delhi airport about 12.45 p.m. on Thursday.
IndiGo stated in a statement, "On aircraft 6E 2037 from Dibrugarh to Delhi, a mobile device battery began to overheat unexpectedly. The staff is trained to handle any dangerous incidents, and they handled the problem immediately. There was no damage to any of the passengers or items onboard."
Another similar occurrence occurred when a OnePlus Nord 2 burst in the hands of a user while it was being used. Fortunately, it did not injure the user. It's hardly the first time a smartphone has burst or caught fire. There have been several similar occurrences recently, including ones in which the user suffered serious burns as a result of the fire or explosion. Another OnePlus device burst in November of last year, injuring the user. The corporation, on the other hand, repaid the consumer and covered the medical expenditures.
