Sales of the Samsung Galaxy S22 have allegedly suffered as a result of the issue surrounding its Game Optimizing Service (GOS). The South Korean internet behemoth was chastised for not allowing customers to switch off this function on their phones directly. According to a recent report, Samsung's carrier partners, such as KT and LG U+, have boosted their subsidies for individuals who buy the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, or Galaxy S22 Ultra by up to KRW 500,000. (roughly Rs. 31,150).

According to a story published by The Korea Times, the new Galaxy S22 series' launch price in South Korea has already reduced by less than half. According to reports, KT has chosen to give KRW 450,000 (about Rs. 28,000) in subsidies for the Galaxy S22, as well as a monthly subscription plan of KRW 90,000. (roughly Rs. 5,600). It will also provide subsidies for the Galaxy S22+ worth KRW 500,000 (about Rs. 31,150). The carrier's subsidies for the Galaxy S22 Ultra had already been raised to KRW 500,000. Similarly, with a monthly subscription of more than KRW 85,000, LG U+ is giving the same subsidies on each of the Samsung Galaxy S22 versions (roughly Rs. 5,200).

As previously stated, mobile carriers are apparently taking these steps in response to a reduction in sales of the Galaxy S22 range following the GOS debacle. Samsung launched the GOS service for Galaxy handsets, which is designed to improve smartphone gaming performance. However, the firm initially did not allow customers to switch off this service directly, which allegedly resulted in lower game quality. Since then, Samsung has improved GOS such that system performance is not limited until the device begins to heat up.

According to industry expert Lee Seung-woo in a statement to The Korea Times, Samsung's mobile devices and network company is predicted to post a profit of up to KRW 4 trillion (approximately Rs. 24,837 crore) in Q1 2022 due to the robust global smartphone market. However, the GOS scandal has harmed the reputation of the Galaxy and Samsung brands.
