ColorOS 12 open beta recruiting for the OPPO Reno3 5G and K7x began on April 7th and will continue till April 8th. Applications will be examined within 5 working days, and successful applicants will get an OTA for the upgrade within 3 days.

In order to receive the OTA, OPPO K7x users must be on firmware version C.08, while OPPO Reno3 5G users must be on firmware version C.14. This is accomplished by going to Settings > About Phone > Version Information > Version Number.

It should be reminded that the ColorOS 12 upgrade will be a beta, which means it is not guaranteed to deliver a reliable experience. True, the builds will have passed internal testing, but they will most likely be rough around the edges, thus glitches and aberrant power usage are to be expected. As a result, it is not advised to apply for the beta unless you are certain of what you are doing.

OPPO also advises that because ColorOS 12 is based on Android 12, some third-party programs may not work properly – however the version has been out for months, so you should be good. It's also a good idea to back up your data before starting the upgrade procedure.

To apply for the open beta, head over to Settings > Software Update > Click the settings icon on the screen > Apply for Beta Version > Update Beta Version.

Keep in mind that you will only be able to apply if you are a Chinese citizen. There’s no word yet on the open beta recruiting for the worldwide variations of these devices so you’d want wait a little for that.
