Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows 11, is being updated with a series of improvements geared at hybrid work and business clients, the firm revealed on Tuesday. Microsoft will add tabbed and pinned file capabilities to Windows 11's File Explorer. The business has also revealed new accessibility capabilities for people with impairments, as well as the ability to switch between a local Windows 11 PC and a Windows 365 Cloud PC with ease. In addition, Microsoft is providing support for a service that automates updates for Windows, Microsoft Edge, and Office.

The company's Microsoft Defender SmartScreen will be improved with stronger phishing detection and protection when users enter credentials on a malicious app or website, as part of new security enhancements introduced for Windows 11. To safeguard users from one of the most common attack vectors, untrusted software, Windows 11 is being upgraded with Smart App Control, which uses code signing and the company's AI intelligence models to ensure that only trusted programmes are executed on a computer.

Microsoft will also release upgrades for Windows 11 focused towards hybrid work users, as well as a new File Explorer tool with a tabbed layout and support for pinning files. Additionally, the operating system will be updated with improved accessibility features such as Focus Sessions for users with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Voice Access for dictation and control, and systemwide Live Captions for users with hearing disabilities or learning a new language.

Microsoft is also upgrading Windows 11 for corporate users with new capabilities such as Windows Autopatch for automated Windows, Microsoft Edge, and Office upgrades. Employees will also be able to safely access corporate resources thanks to Microsoft Edge application management. In the meanwhile, Microsoft will make it easy for customers to move between Windows 11 and Windows 365 (the company's cloud-based service) with Windows 365 Switch and Windows 365 Boot, according to the company.
