With the recent debuts of the Realme GT Neo 3 and Redmi K50 series, it appears like MediaTek, with its Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 9000 processors, is vying for the top place in the premium Android SoC market.

However, it appears like MediaTek is still working on a flagship Dimensity SoC for 2022 Android handsets. The MediaTek Dimensity 1300, the latest member to the Dimensity flagship family, has been formally launched.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1300 is the official successor to last year's flagship MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chip, while the Dimensity 1300 builds on the Dimensity 1200's accomplishments while giving some modest adjustments and upgrades. The MediaTek Dimensity 1300 is more expensive than its Dimensity 800 and 900 series equivalents, but less expensive than its higher-end brothers, the Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 9000.

The Dimensity 1300 has an octa-core configuration, with 4 Cortex-A78 cores (1 Ultra A78 Core operating at up to 3GHz and 3 A78 Super Cores running at up to 2.6GHz) and 4 Cortex-A55 efficiency cores scaling up to 2GHz. The Dimensity 1300 is built on the TSMC 6nm technology and supports 64-bit applications. The onboard graphics are powered by the ARM Mali-G77 MC9 CPU, which is as powerful as last year's Dimensity 1200 GPU.

Moving on to the improvements, the Dimensity 1300 now has a better ISP than last year, and it now supports up to 200MP sensors, as well as hardware-accelerated AV1 decoding for quicker 4K streaming. But that's not all; the ISP also improves low-light images with its artificial intelligence, which uses real-time 3-exposure fusion to get the best shot.

Other technical parameters of the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 are typical of a premium Android SoC: Compatibility for 16GB of 4266MHz LPDDR4x RAM, UFS 3.1 support, 2520 x 1080 168Hz screens, and 5G on Dual SIMs.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1300 chipset is likely to make its market debut shortly in the next OnePlus Nord 2T and Redmi Note 12 series, both of which are scheduled to arrive in Q2 2022. For more information on the latest Chinese electronics, visit Gizmochina, your daily source of Chinese tech news.
