Instagram is tweaking its algorithm to prioritize unique content created by creators. The company's CEO, Adam Mosseri, announced the changes on Twitter, saying that they are in place because artists are "extremely crucial to Instagram's future." Other enhancements include a broader deployment of Product tags and a change to Enhanced tags in which the bio category will appear when users are tagged in a picture/video. Instagram has added the ability for users to start and give to fundraisers using reels.

When asked about the ranking modification, Mosseri stated that it is centered on the concept of uniqueness. "If you make anything from scratch, you should be given more credit than if you reshare something you discovered somewhere else." We intend to do more to try and value original content more, particularly compared to reposted content”, he said.

Instagram has had the Product tags function for quite some time. Instagram is currently spreading out the functionality to all users. Users will now be able to tag a product in order to direct attention to the business or creator of the product. Mosseri did not say whether or not users might make a commission by using the Product tags function.

The Enhanced tags feature alters how regular tags appear on a post. If the person has specified a category for themself in their Instagram bio, the category will appear in the tags beside their name.

Instagram has added the ability for users to start and give to fundraisers using reels. This functionality will be available in over 30 countries, and users will be able to give to over 1.5 million NGOs. Meta has launched this feature as part of the business's festivities for the approaching Earth Day, and the firm claims that on this occasion, they encourage users to check out a few methods to take action against climate change.
