Google has quietly published a new Switch to Android app for iOS customers looking to transition from an iPhone to an Android smartphone. Because it is presently unlisted on the App Store, consumers cannot easily search for and download the app. Users will be able to transfer vital information like as contacts, calendar events, images, and videos using the Switch to Android app without the usage of cords. Apple already has a comparable app on the Play Store for Android customers who want to migrate to iOS.

According to 9to5Google, the listing for the new Switch to Android app is now available on the Software Store as an unlisted app for iPhone owners wishing to leave Apple's ecosystem. Users who download the software will be directed through the process of moving their data to their new Android phone, including the critical step of deactivating iMessage in order for messages from other iPhone users to be sent as SMS on the new Android phone.

Users will be able to transfer contacts, calendar events, images, and videos from their iPhone to a new Android phone using the new Switch to Android app. Previously, users had to upload their data from their iPhone to Google Drive — which may take up a lot of storage space — or connect a Lightning to USB Type-C connection on an Android 12 phone. In addition to copying photographs and videos from the iPhone, the Switch to Android app will allow users to move photos from iCloud to Google Photos.

In contrast to Apple's Move to iOS app, which has been available on the Google Play store since September 2015, the Switch to Android app is presently unavailable on the App Store. Apple added capability for 'unlisted app distribution' earlier this year, allowing customers to download programs available via a direct link.

  • Launch the app by pressing the Start button, and then scan the QR code shown on your Android phone.
  • Select your iPhone from the list of devices on your Android phone.

  • After you've finished copying, deactivate iMessage by selecting the Go to Settings option.

The Switch to Android App Store listing specifies that customers' iPhones must be running iOS 12 or later. The program description also advises users that in order to finish the transfer to an Android smartphone, the app will need a series of permissions to access data on the user's iPhone. Location, contact information, user content, usage information, identifiers, and other data designated for collection under "Data Linked to You" are displayed in the App Privacy section. Google has yet to formally announce the app, and no word on when it will be available on the App Store.
