Apple revealed today that its suppliers' usage of sustainable energy had more than quadrupled in the last year.

Apple's suppliers are currently utilizing more than 10 gigatonnes of renewable energy, out of a total promise of about 16 gigatonnes in the next years. Renewable energy initiatives averted 13.9 million metric tons of carbon emissions last year, and existing projects are comparable to eliminating three million automobiles from the road each year.

213 of Apple's main suppliers have promised to use renewable energy to power all of the company's production across 25 countries, assisting Apple in meeting its aim of becoming carbon neutral throughout its entire supply chain by 2030. Since 2020, Apple's global activities have been carbon neutral.

Apple continues to invest in renewable energy projects across the world, including almost 500 megawatts of solar and other renewable energy projects in China and Japan to offset some of the upstream emissions. See the complete news release for additional information on Apple's current renewable energy projects.
