Apple has recently been charged with yet another antitrust violation in the European Union. This news comes as a result of a complaint filed by Spotify, which prompted the EU to launch an investigation into the matter. According to Reuters, the latest charges are part of an ongoing European Commission investigation. This investigation is related to anti-competitive charge allegations made by Spotify, the popular music streaming platform. This will almost certainly bolster the EU's case against the Cupertino-based behemoth and other major tech firms in the region. For those who are unaware, the European Union has been attempting to rein in the world's tech behemoths, which have grown exponentially in recent years.

Spotify filed a complaint with the European Commission in 2019 accusing Apple of imposing App Store rules that "purposefully limit choice and stifle innovation at the expense of the user experience." In its arguments, the music streaming platform also mentioned Apple's 30 percent App Store commission, which forced the brand to raise the prices of its subscription plans to compensate for the commission that Apple charges.

Spotify went on to say that this gave the iPhone maker a "unfair advantage" because it made it impossible for Spotify to compete with Apple Music on a level playing field. According to a source close to the matter, the European Commission now intends to charge the company with another antitrust charge in a supplementary statement.
