A fresh DigiTimes article on laptop shipments today says briefly that Apple expects to debut a new MacBook Air in the second half of 2022, which corresponds to a date revealed earlier this month by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

The following is an extract from the study that references supply chain sources:

According to the sources, Apple's MacBook series are high-end consumer devices, but they can also be regarded as a business notebook model because they are favoured by many companies or office workers, and hot sales of the MacBook Pro released in late 2021 have lingered into the first quarter of 2022, with shipment volumes higher than expected, and the new MacBook Air set to launch in the second half of the year is expected to add further sales momentum.

According to display industry expert Ross Young in a tweet last week, the next MacBook Air will have a slightly bigger 13.6-inch display than the present 13.3-inch model.

While some sources indicate the next MacBook Air will have an M2 processor with an 8-core CPU and 9-core or 10-core GPU possibilities, Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst, believes the notebook will still have an M1 chip, according to a list of predictions he tweeted in early March. Kuo informed MacRumors in an email that the 2018 MacBook Air might contain a tweaked M1 CPU, and while he didn't go into detail, the speculated additional GPU cores are absolutely a possibility.

According to Kuo's tweet, the next MacBook Air will feature an all-new design with extra colour options and will go into general production in the late second or third quarter of 2022. Unlike the recent 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, Kuo believes the upcoming MacBook Air will lack a mini-LED display, making ProMotion improbable.
