 Xiaomi appears to be preparing to debut the Mi MIX Fold 2, its next foldable flagship.

Xiaomi appears to be working on a follow-up to its first-ever foldable phone, the Mi MIX Fold, which was released in March of last year. The phone, dubbed the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold 2, is said to include top-of-the-line hardware. The phone's key specifications have been leaked, thanks to well-known tipster Digital Chat Station. The foldable, like the original MIX Fold, is supposed to improve the crease on the interior screen and has a book-style folding design. There's a likelihood that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 Plus chipset will power the Mi MIX Fold 2. Because the chipset is slated to debut in June 2022, the handset is expected to appear in the second half of the year.

Specifications of the Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold 2

The Mi MIX Fold 2 will include a 6.5-inch and 8-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate with DC dimming for eye safety, according to tipster Digital Chat Station. The refresh rate of the cover screen will be 60Hz. Surprisingly, the inside display will use LTPO technology, and the "crease will be slightly better" than before. There are rumours that it will feature a thinner fold than the Mi MIX Fold.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 Plus processor, with the model number SM8475 and based on TSMC's 4nm manufacturing platform, will power the chipset. According to previous leaks, the Mi MIX Fold 2 would include a 5000mAh battery, a 2K AMOLED display, and a 108MP primary rear camera. For input, the foldable will be equipped with a stylus.

MIX Fold 2 vs Xiaomi Mi MIX

A similar display configuration may also be seen on the Xiaomi Mi MIX. It sports a 6.52-inch display on the outside and an 8.01-inch QHD+ OLED display on the interior. The chipset will be the most significant change. The Snapdragon 888 chipset will be replaced with the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 Plus chipset. The inside screen will have a 120Hz refresh rate, rather than the usual 60Hz.

The primary 108MP camera will also be carried over to the Fold 2. The MIX Fold featured a battery capacity of 5020mAh, but the Fold 2 is expected to have a capacity of 5,000mAh. More information regarding the MIX Fold 2 should become available in the near future.

Timeline for the Mi MIX Fold 2 launch

In terms of release date, the Mi MIX Fold 2 is expected to arrive in the middle of this year. Because the Mi MIX Fold was never released in India, we're not sure if the business would do so with its replacement.
