Xiaomi conducted a worldwide launch event today, unveiling the much-anticipated Xiaomi 12 series, as well as the Xiaomi Watch S1, Watch S1 Active, and Xiaomi Buds 3T Pro. The Xiaomi 12 series consists of the standard Xiaomi 12, the Xiaomi 12 Pro, and the less expensive Xiaomi 12X.
The Xiaomi 12 models will be available for purchase in Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America immediately. In time, the worldwide reach may be extended to other markets outside of these areas.
While we are familiar with the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro, which were initially introduced in China in December, the Xiaomi 12X is a completely new entrant. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 mid-range processor powers the 12X, as opposed to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC found in the top versions. Because of the mid-range chipset inside, the device has a significantly lower price tag.
In terms of pricing, the top-tier Xiaomi 12 Pro starts at $1,000/€1,000 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration. There's also a 12GB RAM model with 256GB storage. The vanilla 12 on the other hand costs $750 (€800) for the 8GB+128GB variant. The pricing is €50 more than the Xiaomi 11.
The Xiaomi 12X, for its part, has a starting price of $650 (€700) for the basic edition with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. There is a higher-end model with 256GB of storage.
The Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12X are all available in three different colour schemes: grey, purple, and blue. The third Chinese edition received a fourth green leatherette colour choice, however the global version does not. Another benefit of purchasing the Xiaomi 12 series is that purchasers will receive three months of free YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium membership, letting users to stream content ad-free and save it for offline consumption.
The Xiaomi 12 series is available for purchase on AliExpress from anywhere in the globe. The Xiaomi 12 is available for an early bird price of $699, which is somewhat less than the official retail price. The Xiaomi 12X has also received a significant price reduction as part of the early bird promotion. The 8GB+128GB variant begins at $449. On AliExpress, the top-tier Xiaomi 12 Pro keeps its $1000 worldwide price tag.
