Following the announcement that WhatsApp is working on providing options to handle two-step verification directly within the web/desktop client, WhatsApp and Cloudflare are now unveiling something new that increases security while using WhatsApp Web.

Code Verify is a new and vital web browser plugin that offers an additional degree of protection to your WhatsApp experience. When you install Code Verify, it automatically checks if the code of the version of WhatsApp Web you're using has been altered by a hostile actor, and therefore whether it is a legitimate and untampered version. When Code Verify successfully confirms that you are using a legitimate version of WhatsApp Web, it implies that your version has not been tampered with by hackers, overreaching governments, or other malevolent persons or programmes. It is the most reliable technique to ensure the integrity of your WhatsApp Web version.

When you launch WhatsApp Web after installing the extension, it will instantly launch. The extension does not track metadata or user messages, and it does not exchange any information with WhatsApp or Meta: it is also open-sourced, so anybody may check its functionality. When you use WhatsApp Web, Code Verify may display one of the following messages:

When your network has timed out, an orange circl    e with a question mark will appear.

Possible Risk Detected: When another extension interacts with Code Verify, an orange circle with a question mark appears.

When the extension detects that you are using a different and non-authentic WhatsApp Web code, the Code Verify icon will turn red and show an exclamation point.

Validated: the Code Verify symbol will turn green, indicating that you are using the genuine version of WhatsApp Web.

Code Verify may be downloaded by going to your web browser's store; it is currently accessible on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. If you want to understand more, we recommend reading Meta's official post.
