HIGHLIGHTS
- Users of WhatsApp for Android may soon get access to an enhanced audio recording feature.
- The stop and resume feature was first beta tested earlier this month, and WhatsApp has now released a new UWP app for testing.
For beta testers, WhatsApp for Android has returned the option to pause and restart voice message recordings. The function was previously accessible to beta testers earlier this month, but it was removed from recent WhatsApp updates. It allows WhatsApp users to pause and resume audio message recording. WhatsApp first made the functionality available on iOS. WhatsApp has released a new beta version of its Universal Windows Platform (UWP) client, which includes the option to pause and restart voice recordings for Android beta users.
According to WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has reintroduced the ability to pause and restart voice message recordings in WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.22.8.4.
The functionality has been made accessible to a small group of beta testers and is likely to be made available to a larger audience in the future. Gadgets 360 was able to confirm its existence independently.
The pause and resume functionality for voice message recordings, as seen before, allows beta testers to pause and restart their voice message recordings by hitting the recording button.
The functionality replaces the existing stop button with a new dynamic pause and resume option.
WhatsApp launched the play and resume option while recording audio conversations on iOS in January. The exact date when it will be released to the general public on Android has yet to be confirmed.
The preview of photos and videos when shared as documents in the app was also disabled in the beta release version 2.22.8.4. It was made available to beta testers via WhatsApp for Android beta release version 2.22.5.11.
Some WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.22.8.4 users reported difficulties such as random crashes and duplicate messages. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp appears to have addressed the problems with a fresh beta release carrying version 2.22.8.5.
It is still suggested, however, to use the beta version only for a secondary WhatsApp account and to backup your existing communications before installing the beta edition.
After participating in Google Play's beta programme, you may download the most recent WhatsApp for Android beta on your smartphone. You may also sideload its APK from sites such as APKMirror.
Separately, WhatsApp released UWP beta version 2.2211.3.70, which has a separate Stickers tab when you click the emoji icon in a chat. The functionality, discovered by WABetaInfo, allows users to simply add stickers to their discussions on a Windows PC.
By making them a favourite in the WhatsApp UWP app, you may add fresh stickers to the newly created tab. However, because synchronisation of favourite lists between UWP and Android and iOS applications is not currently enabled, the stickers you've designated as favourites on the desktop app will not display on your phone.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on adding the option to sync stickers between devices. It may become accessible in a future update.
