What operating system does Xiaomi use? Is it powered by Android?

In today's smartphone world, we have relatively few alternatives for operating systems, with Android and iOS taking the lead. While iOS has an uniform user interface, the Android world has gotten fairly diverse to the point that it may feel like a distinct operating system, yet what they have are merely fancy skins that are dressed up as Android. What about Xiaomi? Samsung has OneUI, OnePlus has OxygenOS.

Xiaomi’s OS: MIUI

Xiaomi, like many other businesses, has chosen to utilise its own built user interface, MIUI, which is extremely customisable and visually appealing. This user interface appears to be quite similar to that of Apple's iOS, yet it is far from a clone. MIUI also has its own theme shop where you may further personalise the basic skin.

But it's not only the skin that's unusual. To differentiate themselves, brands develop their own Android features, such as MIUI's MiCloud, which allows chatting via the internet, data backups, and so on. This design also has a revised dark mode, greater privacy and security options, new animations, new wallpapers, and much more.

Not long ago, Android lacked full-screen navigation gestures, so MIUI developed its own, allowing you to switch applications, go back, go home, and so on simply swiping through the screen. Overall, we believe it is reasonable to argue that, while they are not operating systems, they certainly behave like such.
