While Sony continues to struggle to meet demand for its PlayStation 5 gaming systems, it appears that the corporation is already working on a new platform. According to a fresh claim, a prototype system is now being developed, and it may be the PS5 Pro.
TweakTown (via TomsGuide) reports that the prototype was discovered on import records in Sony's shipping boxes of development kits headed to the US. The Japanese tech giant was previously thought to be working on a lighter variant with a smaller heatsink, but it now appears that a higher-end model is also in the works. The brand's shipment was labelled "video game consol [sic.] (prototype)" and was sent from the United Kingdom to the United Kingdom.
It's still feasible that the shipment is for a prototype from the past. However, it's more likely that Sony is working on a new version of the PS5. Hardware improvements or updates may be included in the new game console. As a result, it may be either a thin model with a smaller size or a Pro model with more powerful specs. As of right now, it's almost guaranteed that a Slim version will be released in the near future.
