In December 2021, Qualcomm launched the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. According to recent sources, the business is working on a 'Plus' edition of the SD8G1. Qualcomm's anticipated processor with the SM8475 component number is expected to debut as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chipset. According to the source, Qualcomm will unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ in early May. Around the same time, the US-based chipmaker is likely to debut the new Snapdragon 700-series. The first smartphones powered by the SD8G1+ are scheduled to hit the market as soon as June 2022.
Lenovo, Motorola, OnePlus, and Xiaomi are among the companies that are likely to release flagship phones powered by the SD8G1+. According to a January rumour, the next Lenovo Legion phone, codenamed "Halo," might be one of the first phones to use the SD8G1+ processor. It will have a 6.67-inch OLED FHD+ 144Hz screen, a 16-megapixel front camera, and a 50-megapixel + 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera set. It might include up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 68W rapid charging.
A Motorola flagship with the codename 'Frontier' and SD8G1+ is also in the works. It will include a 6.75-inch P-OLED FHD+ 144Hz screen, a 6-megapixel front camera, a 194-megapixel + 50-megapixel + 12-megapixel triple camera unit, up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 125W fast charging and 50W wireless charging compatibility.
Furthermore, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ SoC is slated to power the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4 later this year.
