Samsung says it's working on providing a software update "as soon as possible" to resolve complaints about app throttling on several of its Galaxy smartphones, including the new S22.

Earlier this month, a report claimed that Samsung was subjecting at least 10,000 apps to performance restrictions via a native mechanism known as the Game Optimizing Service. Despite its focus on gaming, the slowing app also affected TikTok, Netflix, and Google Keep, among other services.

According to ZDNet, Samsung is working on a solution that would allow users to toggle performance limiting on and off via the game launcher software.

In terms of why the throttling occurred in the first place, Samsung stated that the systems were put in place to prevent devices from overheating and losing battery life too quickly while gaming. It didn't say anything about why benchmarking apps weren't included.

The list plainly suggested that non-gaming programmes, such as Microsoft Office, were being throttled. Samsung, on the other hand, denies that their GOS software has any effect on anything other than Android games.

A lot of Samsung Galaxy handsets were hit by the throttling app. Despite earlier reports to the contrary, the company's newest Galaxy S22 smartphones were also listed. There have been several complaints on the company's South Korean community forums since the selling of those gadgets began.

The Galaxy S22 lineup includes the GOS throttling system, which isn't new. It was previously available on prior versions of Samsung smartphones, such as the Galaxy S21.
