The Redmi K40S was unveiled with Xiaomi's latest Redmi K50 series smartphones, the Redmi K50 and Redmi K50 Pro, during an event in China on Thursday. The Redmi K40S is a redesigned version of the original Redmi K40 smartphone, which was released in February 2021. It has similar specs, including a Snapdragon 870 processor and up to 12GB of RAM. The display is a 6.67-inch E4 EMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate. A 48-megapixel triple camera array and a 20-megapixel selfie camera are included in the smartphone.
Redmi K40S price, availability
The base 6GB + 128GB storage edition of the Redmi K40S costs CNY 1,799 (approximately Rs. 21,500). The smartphone is also available in two storage options: 8GB + 128GB storage for CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs. 23,900) and 8GB + 256GB storage for CNY 2,199. (roughly Rs. 26,300). Customers may also get a high-end 12GB + 256GB variant for CNY 2,399 in the meantime (roughly Rs. 28,700). The Aurora, Black, Green, and Silver colour options are available for the Redmi K40S.
The smartphone is already on sale in China, according to the company's website. Xiaomi has not stated when the smartphone will be available in other areas, such as India.
Redmi K40S specifications
The dual-SIM (Nano) Redmi K40S runs MIUI 13 on top of an unnamed version of Android. The Samsung E4 AMOLED display on the phone is 6.67-inch full-HD+ (1,080x2,400 pixels) with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. It has the same 7nm octa core Snapdragon 870 SoC as the Redmi K40, which was released in February 2021. Up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM is available on the Redmi K40S.
The Redmi K40S features a 48-megapixel Sony IMX582 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture lens, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera with a 119-degree field-of-view, and a 2-megapixel macro camera on the camera front. A selfie camera with a resolution of 20 megapixels is included in the smartphone.
The Redmi K40S has 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage that cannot be expanded with a microSD card. 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.2, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C connector are among the connectivity possibilities. An accelerometer, gyroscope, e-compass, ambient light and colour temperature sensors, as well as an infrared blaster, are among the sensors on board. The Redmi K40S comes with a 4,500mAh battery that supports 67W rapid charging. According to the business, the smartphone dimensions 163.2x75.95x7.7mm and weighs 195g.
