OnePlus Nord 3 Launch Tipped for Q2, May Come With 150W Fast Charging Tech

The OnePlus Nord 3 is expected to be released in the second quarter, with compatibility for 150W fast charging. The new OnePlus phone is likely to be the successor of the OnePlus Nord 2, which was released in July. The previous year's model had Warp Charge 65 (65W) charging technology, which is capable of charging the battery from zero to 100 percent in 30 minutes. Oppo, OnePlus's sister, revealed its 150W SuperVOOC charging standard at MWC earlier this week, claiming to charge a 4,500mAh battery in 15 minutes. Realme also unveiled their 150W charging standard, dubbed the 150W UltraDart Charge.

According to Android Central, the OnePlus Nord 3 will be based on the Realme GT Neo 3 that was introduced at MWC 2022 and would include the company's unique 150W charging technology.

Oppo and Realme demonstrated their new fast charging standards as two independent technologies at MWC. Oppo revealed that its 150W SuperVOOC charging technology would be available on select OnePlus phone models in the second quarter. However, specifics on the models that will be equipped with the technology have yet to be published. Realme, on the other hand, said that their 150W UltraDart Charge will be available exclusively on the Realme GT Neo 3.

Realme, OnePlus, and Oppo — all three controlled by Guangdong-based BBK Electronics — are currently collaborating closely to compete with their local rival Xiaomi. All three companies are already well-known among smartphone users throughout the world. However, the 150W charging technology is expected to help them achieve a first-mover advantage, as Xiaomi has not yet declared if it is working on delivering similar battery charging technology to its phones.

OnePlus has yet to reveal any information on the OnePlus Nord 3. Nonetheless, with the release of the OnePlus Nord in July 2020, the smartphone manufacturer has maintained a tradition of releasing a new Nord flagship once a year. Based on OnePlus' past performance over the last two years, the OnePlus Nord 3 might make its debut in July.

According to the firm, the OnePlus Nord series, which comprised the normal OnePlus Nord and OnePlus Nord 2 models, as well as the OnePlus Nord CE and OnePlus Nord N models, recently sold 10 million units. It is sold to customers as a good value for money.

Along with claiming the Nord series' expansion, OnePlus stated earlier this week that it intends to introduce its "most cheap 5G smartphone" in India and Europe. However, it is unknown if that phone will be part of the Nord series or a whole new device.
