Next big Galaxy S22 argument could be about charging.

So far, the Galaxy S22 series has garnered great feedback, but the phones aren't without flaws. The phone appears to break a lot more easily than predicted, however you can avoid this with a nice case. However, the Galaxy S22 has been the subject of a few debates thus far, with 45W charging speed being the most recent issue raised by consumers.

Samsung's marketing falsehood about the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus display refresh rates should be remembered by anyone keeping score at home. The company offered considerably better specifications than the actual goods. Then there was the major app throttling issue, which Samsung is working to resolve as quickly as possible. And if the data about 45W charging speeds are correct, Samsung's public relations staff will be in trouble.

What is the charging speed of the Galaxy S22?

Samsung supporters have been pleading with the firm to enhance the charging speed of its phones for years. China's phones have been delivering increasingly fast wired and wireless charging speeds in recent years. The most recent example occurred just a few days ago, when Oppo unveiled its 150W wired charging technology, which can fully charge a smartphone in 15 minutes. It only takes 5 minutes for the battery to reach 50% capacity.

Two fast-charging speeds are available on the Galaxy S22 phones. The cheapest model has a maximum power output of 25W. Although the Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22 Ultra support 45W charging, you'll need to purchase a separate power adapter to attain that speed.

Let's travel back in time to the Unpacked event from mid-February before we look at the new charging speed issue. The 45W charging speed was described in this way by Samsung.

The 45W marketing claims are rare.

Samsung wrote the following for the Galaxy S22 Plus:

  • When your battery runs out, the Galaxy S22+ has 45W super-fast charging, so you don't have to wait.

The 45W charging speed of the Galaxy S22 Ultra got a little weirder:

  • After a 10-minute charge, the S22 Ultra supports 45W super-fast charging, allowing you to record more than 50 minutes of video.

It was so strange that it required a footnote:

Based on Super Fast Charging findings from internal Samsung lab testing conducted with a 45W Travel Adapter with all services, features, and the screen turned off while it has 0% charge remaining. Actual charging speed varies depending on usage, charging conditions, and other variables. A 45W travel adapter is available for purchase separately. Only use chargers and cords that have been certified by Samsung.

So, while your Galaxy S22 Ultra is at 0%, you can use the 45W charging speed for 10 minutes, according to Samsung. After that, you'll be able to record more than 50 minutes of video on your phone. That is an odd claim to make.

The new charging speeds are frequently highlighted by Android providers by telling purchasers how much faster the phone can recharge.

  • On Samsung's Galaxy S22 Ultra page, the 45W charging speed is described as follows:

Charging in a flash

  • It's all systems go. When you put in the 45W Power Adapter, you'll get a super-fast charge that lasts all day.

A footnote is required once more:

  • Use only Samsung-approved chargers and cords; wall charger supplied separately.

The 45W charging speed could be a marketing ploy.

In conclusion, Samsung did not say how much faster the 45W charger is than the 25W charger. As a result, some are unsure whether the $49.99 faster adapter is worthwhile.

This leads us to two distinct reports indicating that you should avoid purchasing the Galaxy S22 45W charger.

One of them comes from PhoneArena. On the 45W fast charging speed, the Galaxy S22 Ultra's 5,000 mAh battery takes 62 minutes to reach full charge, according to the blog. A complete charge takes only 70 minutes with the 25W.

Separately, Android Authority did a charging comparison test and found that the 45W charger is just slightly faster than the 25W charger.

Worse, the 45W charger's peak performance is only sustained for one minute, according to the second report. The majority of the time, the speed is approximately 30W. As a result, when using the "45W" charging speed, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will not charge considerably faster.

You might not understand the quicker charging speed isn't worth the extra $50 unless you have both 25W and 45W chargers to compare.

The good news is that charging at a slower rate may protect the battery's health. However, it appears that Samsung has made yet another major Galaxy S22 marketing misstep.

The Galaxy S22 phones, according to Samsung, have greater screen refresh, faster app performance, and faster charging speeds than what users will really experience in real life.
