In an attempt to dethrone Apple's iPhone, Samsung has announced three new cellphones.

The top model from the South Korean tech giant includes a mind-boggling 100x "space zoom" capability — as well as a built-in pen.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, as well as the Galaxy S22 and S22+, are all available.

They appear less than a year after the release of the iPhone 13 — a powerful flagship smartphone, according to The Sun.

What's new about the new models, which were presented today at Samsung's glittering Galaxy Unpacked event?

The top-of-the-line device in the new lineup is the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. If any of the new Samsung phones were an iPhone competitor, this would be it.

It has a sleek and futuristic design, with a boxy appearance, four cameras on the rear, and eye-catching colour variations.

The screen is a massive 6.8-inch QHD+ AMOLED, larger than even the iPhone 13 Pro Max. It covers the whole DCI-P3 colour space, so it will be vibrant and accurate. An ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is also hidden behind the display. On the front, Samsung has included a large 40-megapixel selfie camera. The real brilliance, though, comes on the back, where there are no less than four cameras.

You have the following:

• 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera (f/2.2, 120-degree field of view)

• 108-megapixel wide-angle camera (f/1.8, 85-degree FOV)

• 10-megapixel telephoto lens (f/2.4, 36-degree field of view)

• 10 megapixel telephoto lens (f/4.9, 11-degree field of view)

It will almost probably be one of the greatest mobile camera setups available. But it also has a cool trick: 100x "Space Zoom."

To reduce image degradation, this uses 10x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom with "AI Super Resolution" technology.

Although it is not as excellent as 100x optical zoom, sophisticated AI tricks can minimise how deteriorated the image seems.

There are four memory and storage choices, starting with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of capacity and progressing to 12GB and 1TB.

In terms of capacity, the latter is comparable to the highest iPhone model, which just acquired a 1TB option.

It has a big 5,000mAh battery that should comfortably last a full day of operation. And it runs the most recent Google Android 12, as you'd expect from a 2022 flagship. The device supports Samsung Pay and has 5G internet.

The body is IP68 water-resistant and has a built-in pen, similar to the legendary (but now defunct) Galaxy Note series.

"The Galaxy Note series is one of our most beloved devices," said TM Roh, president of Samsung Mobile.

"Thanks to a highly devoted fan base that values the power, performance, and productivity that Note provides."

"We've attentively listened to them, and we know they want it all." "That's why we're bringing the most popular Note features across even more device types." The Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ are the latest additions to the Galaxy S series.

Samsung also revealed two lesser-priced phones that forego some of the Ultra's glitz in return for a reduced price. They are known as the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+.

Both variants are smaller than the Ultra, measuring 6.1 and 6.6 inches in length, respectively. They have smooth refresh rates of 120Hz, under-screen fingerprint sensors, and a powerful new 4nm Exynos CPU.

The batteries are lesser at 3,700mAh and 4,500mAh, but both should last you a day.

There's 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, which is standard at this pricing point.

The two phones are water-resistant and run Google's newest Android 12. (rated at IP68). Both versions include 10-megapixel front-facing cameras from Samsung. There's also a three-camera setup on the rear, with wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto lenses.
