The name change was made in Xiaomi's Mi Fit programme, which is used by many Xiaomi customers and is designed for smart bands and smart watches. Zepp Life is the new name for the app. So, who or what is Zepp? What happened to the name on the Mi Fit app?

 What is Zepp?

Zepp is the new brand for Amazfit, a startup that makes smartwatches and smartbands. Huami, a Xiaomi sub-brand, produces Zepp (previously Amazfit). In a nutshell, it's a Xiaomi sub-brand product. Of course, you're familiar with the Amazfit smartwatches and smartbands. In most countries, it was marketed as Xiaomi Amazfit rather than Amazfit (just like Redmi or POCO).

The Mi Fit app is currently known as Zepp Life. Xiaomi appears to be abandoning the Mi Band series in favour of the Zepp Life application. We actually discussed it.

What Has Changed in New Application?

The app interface remains the same, with the exception of the app name and logo, which have been altered for the time being. Because the package names are the identical, the Mi Fit app will become the Zepp Life app with a single update. The most recent Mi Fit version is 5.6.0, which has been upgraded to 6.0.0 with the release of the new Zepp Life version. Future upgrades are likely to include new modifications. After all, rebranding an app takes time since it's crucial for consumers to know what's going on.

So What Happens to the Mi Band Series?

In fact, we discussed this in our Mi Band 7 piece a few weeks ago. Xiaomi's forthcoming Mi Band 7 series will use Zepp OS, as we previously said. It was almost certain that such a move would be undertaken. Xiaomi's next smartbands (and maybe smartwatches) will run on Zepp OS, which is compatible with the Zepp Life app. We'll have to wait and see whether the Mi Band series gets a name change. We don't believe there will be any issues with the merchandise. You may keep using your accessories after renaming them. Xiaomi, as you may know, like rebranding.
