According to a source, Apple will update the iPad Pro range this autumn, with the premium tablet line also anticipated to be upgraded to the M2 processor.

Following the debut of the M1-equipped iPad Air during Apple's "Peek Performance" special event, the iPad Pro range has been a hot topic for discussion about its upcoming upgrade. However, Apple will have to wait many months before upgrading the high-end tablets.

After failing to materialise at the March event, Mark Gurman in Bloomberg's "Power On" newsletter predicts that the line will be updated in the fall, between September and November 2022.

This prediction isn't difficult to make because the autumn release schedule typically includes a high number of product upgrades. Given that upgrades to the iPad Pro series often come 14 to 16 months apart, an autumn update would be a fairly lengthy gap between updates, but still realistic given the regular cycle.

Gurman believes that when it does arrive, the models will feature a new M2 processor, which will replace the present M1 with a new desktop-class SoC. This is also simple to guess on, given reports point to Apple making a huge number of changes throughout the Mac lineup to incorporate the new M2, as Gurman has previously suggested.
