Transsion stated today that its Infinix brand has launched the world's first light-painted leather technology, which changes colours when exposed to sunlight. Users may use it to customise the back cover of their phones by painting a bespoke pattern by blocking the light.
The light-painted leather technology, according to reports, works by responding to UV wavelengths. A photochromic chemical, whose molecular structure changes fast in the presence of sunshine, is incorporated into leather, resulting in colour changing. The effect, however, is only temporary, as the colour of the leather gradually returns to its natural hue.
Infinix's light-painted leather, according to Transsion, is a passive color-changing technology, which means it does not require any additional energy from a smartphone to make colour changes. Simply blocking the light in different forms is enough to create new patterns, allowing for unlimited personalization.
The innovative light-painted leather technology will be used to additional Infinix products in the near future.
A similar approach can be seen on the recently released realme 9 Pro+, which allows its glass back to display different colours based on whether you are indoors or outside. However, unlike the realme 9 Pro+'s glass back, Infinix's technology colour transitions leather, which is rather distinctive.
