LG's smartphone business failed last year, and the company is now focused on other market areas. However, it appears that the business is still offering OS upgrades for some of its older devices. The LG Velvet, which was introduced in 2020, is now receiving the Android 12 OS upgrade.
It's worth mentioning that the LG Velvet was originally released with the Android 10 operating system pre-installed. Now that it has the updated Android 12 operating system, it appears to offer a slew of new capabilities to the smartphone. According to reports, the new update is only available in Korea, and it looks to be for the Velvet 5G.
You should have received an update message if you possess an LG Velvet. If not, go to Settings > Software update to update it.
The Velvet smartphone was one of LG's high-end models. The smartphone received the Android 11 upgrade in February of last year, and the Android 12 update arrived on schedule. Despite leaving the phone business, LG looks to have kept its software update pledge, at least for luxury phones like the Velvets in the domestic market.
However, this may be the last update for the LG Velvet, as it's unusual for any LG phone to receive a third OS upgrade, especially today.
