On Monday, the Honor Magic 4 series, which includes the Honor Magic 4 and Honor Magic 4 Pro smartphones, was launched globally at an event during MWC 2022. The Honor Magic 4 series includes Qualcomm's flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, as well as 50-megapixel primary cameras. The smartphones are powered by the AI-powered Magic UI 6 OS and include a 'Just Say to Me' function. The Pro model includes 100W wired and wireless charging, as well as face unlock and a second-generation ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.

Honor Magic 4 Pro starts at EUR 1,099 (about Rs. 93,000) for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option. The Honor Magic 4 begins at EUR 899 (about Rs. 76,000) with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The phones are available in the following colours: black, cyan, gold, white, and a unique orange (vegan leather). Honor has not yet provided any information on the other Honor Magic 4 models or their availability in other markets.


Honor Magic 4 Pro specifications

Honor Magic 4 Pro is powered by Magic UI 6.0, which is based on Android 12. It has a 6.81-inch Flex OLED quad-curved display with a resolution of 1,213x2,848 pixels and Motion Sync technology, which automatically decreases the refresh rate from 120Hz to 1Hz. According to the manufacturer, it has a 360Hz touch sampling rate, 460ppi density, and an enhanced HDR Effect that instantly improves video quality from SDR to HDR and HDR to HDR+. The phone is also said to have the first LTPO display with 1920Hz Pulse-Width Modulation (PWM) Dimming technology.

The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, which is combined with Honor's GPU Turbo X technology to provide industry-first AI Super Rendering in Mobile Gaming. The SoC is accompanied by 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

In terms of optics, the Honor Magic 4 Pro has a triple rear camera array, as well as a dTOF (time of flight) sensor and flicker sensors. There's a 50-megapixel main sensor with a 7P lens and a 50-megapixel sensor with a 122-degree field-of-view ultra-wide lens. It is also suitable for macro photography. A 64-megapixel sensor is housed in a periscope-style telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom and 100X digital zoom. The lens has optical image stabilisation (OIS) and electronic image stabilisation (EIS). A 12-megapixel sensor with a lens with a 100-degree field of view is located on the front of the device. The Honor phone includes an independent security chip as well as a 'Just Say to Me' function, which is effectively an AI-powered privacy call feature that prevents sound leakage when on the phone. The Honor Magic 4 Pro has an in-display fingerprint scanner as well as a second-generation ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. The phone is dust and water resistant to IP68 standards. It is powered by a 4,600mAh battery that supports 100W wired and wireless SuperCharge technology and claims to charge up to 50% in 15 minutes.

The Honor Magic 4 retains many of the Pro model's characteristics. It offers the same display characteristics as the larger model, but with a lesser resolution of 1,224 x 2,664 pixels. The smartphone has the same processing power as the Pro model.

The primary distinction is in the camera section. There are two 50-megapixel cameras, one with a wide 7P lens and the other with an ultra-wide lens with a 122-degree field of view. The third sensor has an 8-megapixel resolution and is combined with a lens that provides 50x digital magnification. A 12-megapixel camera with a 100-degree field of vision is mounted on the front.

The Honor Magic 4 features the same 4,800mAh battery that supports 66W fast charging as the Honor Magic 3. This variant is also dust and water resistant (IP68). Both phones have dual-band Wi-Fi, 5G, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C connector for connectivity.
