In December 2020, Oppo Reno 5 5G and Reno 5 Pro 5G, both powered by Snapdragon 765G SoC, were announced in China. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer is now said to be testing the device with a different processor. Hands-on photographs of the Oppo Reno 5 5G smartphone, which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 CPU, have recently surfaced on the internet. Oppo is believed to have introduced a new CPU variant of the Reno 5 5G in response to ongoing challenges relating to the worldwide semiconductor scarcity.
The live shots of the Oppo Reno 5 5G smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 CPU were released on Twitter by known source @chunvn8888. The Snapdragon 855 mobile platform does not include 5G support. Instead, a Snapdragon X50 modem is required to connect to the new network. So, instead of the Snapdragon 765G SoC that the handset now possesses, the new reported model of the Oppo Reno 5 5G is believed to contain both the Snapdragon 855 chipset and the Snapdragon X50 modem. Oppo may have been compelled to test a new chipset on the Oppo Reno 5 5G due to issues relating to the worldwide semiconductor scarcity.
A global chip shortage is causing havoc on the manufacturing lines and inventories of smartphone businesses all around the world, hurting the production of phones, laptops, video game consoles like the PlayStation 5, and more.
The Oppo Reno 5 5G was launched in China in December 2020 for CNY 2,699 (approximately Rs. 30,400) for the 8GB + 128GB storage model and CNY 2,999 (about Rs. 33,700) for the 12GB + 256GB storage model.
A 6.43-inch full-HD+ (1,080x2,400 pixels) OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate is featured on the Oppo Reno 5 5G. It sports a quad-camera array on the back, with the primary sensor measuring 64 megapixels. It has 256GB of internal storage and a 4,300mAh battery with 65W fast charging capabilities.
