According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple has allegedly postponed the release of the revamped MacBook Air until later this year, and will likely not release new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models until 2023.
According to Gurman's weekly "Power On" newsletter, Apple had planned to debut the new MacBook Air with "an all-new design, MagSafe, the M2 processor, and more" around the end of 2021 or early 2022, but this timetable has now reportedly been pushed back to the second half of 2022.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo anticipates that full manufacturing of the new MacBook Air would begin in the late second or early third quarter, implying that the gadget will be available in September.
Gurman also stated that he does not anticipate Apple updating its high-end 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models this year, with an upgrade bringing the " M2 Pro" and " M2 Max" CPUs arriving next year. According to Gurman, the only MacBook Pro upgrade this year will most likely be a new entry-level MacBook Pro with a 13-inch display and the M2 CPU.
Launching a series of new Macs with the M2 processor at the end of 2022 might seem similar to how Apple launched the M1 MacBook Air, 13-inch MacBook Pro, and entry-level Mac mini in November 2020, implying that the company's M-series semiconductors have a two-year upgrade cycle. Aside from the MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro, the entry-level Mac mini, 24-inch iMac, and iPad Pro would also be plausible candidates for the M2 processor, although timetables for upgrades to these devices are currently unknown.
