According to a last-minute confirmation from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple may introduce a new "Mac Studio" computer and a new display that runs iOS during its March 8 presentation. Gurman adds in a tweet that the Mac Studio and a "new monitor running iOS" are "ready to go" and will most likely be unveiled tomorrow.
Earlier today, YouTuber Luke Miani posted drawings of what he claims is the "Mac Studio," displaying a system with the appearance of a thick Mac mini. The "Mac Studio" has the same square-shaped form as the present Mac mini, but it stands four inches tall and has a new thermal design to reduce heat.
Miani had stated that the "Mac Studio" will be "unequivocally" introduced during the spring event, and it now looks like Gurman is backing that up.
We first heard the moniker "Mac Studio" last week from 9to5Mac, which described it as a mix of a Mac mini and a Mac Pro. Prior speculations suggested that a high-end Mac mini and a smaller Mac Pro were in development, and it appears that these rumours were referring to the same Mac Studio device.
The hybrid Mac Studio might be offered as a smaller alternative to the Mac Pro and could replace the high-end Mac mini. It will not be as powerful as the Mac Pro, but it will feature Apple's M1 Pro and M1 Max CPUs, as well as an option for a more powerful version of the M1 Max.
